Composed of eleven neighbourhoods, East Vancouver is best known for its diversity and culture. It borders Vancouver West Side by Ontario Street to the west and Burnaby by Boundary Road on its east side. To the north, East Vancouver borders the Burrard Inlet, with the Fraser River to the south. The community has a unique character which is driven by the mixture of culture and styles of its inhabitants. On any given weekend, you stumble upon a Farmers’ Market filled with locally grown produce and baked goods. Sounds of jazz greet you at a pub or brew house. Festivals like Italian Day or the Eastside Culture Crawl provide a taste of the various cultures. Families enjoy the excitement of the casual softball game.
Neighbourhoods such as Mount Pleasant have undergone an incredible revitalization. Breweries, cafes, and restaurants populate the area surrounded by new multifamily developments. Referred to as the “Hipster Heaven”, Mount Pleasant is a popular neighbourhood for families, downsizers, and young professionals. For the locals at South Main, some of the most popular spots include boutique shops, branch cafes, and ethnic restaurants.
